Team or Tim ?

Wow! Thursday was already a quite strong first day of the Agora! Difficult questions, sentiments, provocations, strong statements, locals unsure of what is going on or what is going to happen. Financial Director of AEGEE-Europe Tim Klifman had to face a lot of criticism. CD looked unsure for a moment …

The ones who believe that after the storm there is always sunshine were once more right. Speculations were around, with locals being approached on Wednesday and deciding for a vote of confidence. The whole plenary was ready to face the best and the worst scenario. Solution finally came from the inside. CD decided to give it another try as a team. The AGORA which earlier yesterday has given a positive vote for the Activity report of the CD, decided not to put forward the Vote of Confidence for Tim Klifman. That decision was partially a result of some CD meetings during the Thursday morning plenary and consultation with some old and experienced members as our sleepless reporters managed to find out.

On the other side of the plenary the current candidates were preparing for their afternoon presentations. After Thursdays’ happenings, more people decided to take the difficult decision and run for the most neuralgic body of our Association the CD.

Dragan Stojanovski (AEGEE-Nis), current Projects Director ran for the President position while Kay Lieker (AEGEE-Maastricht) and Robin Verchuren (AEGEE-Leuven), applying for President before the AGORA made a last moment decision to run for members of the CD together with Anita Bosneva (AEGEE-Sofia).

Ivonne Van Den Berg (AEGEE-Leiden) ran for Financial Director position, as she had applied before the initial deadline, as well as Anita. Percin Imrek (AEGEE-Canakkale) and Tena Prelec (AEGEE-Trieste) ran for the position of member of the CD while Evren Erdener went for the Secretary General position (AEGEE-Ankara), all of them showing up on the last moment => somewhere from the back of the plenary a voice was heard: ’you can’t teach an old association new tricks’.

Final episode of the day was a speech-apology and at the same time promise to improve the financial management of AEGEE presented by the CD which was received with great relief from the AGORA.

AEGEE-Rodos signing the Convention d’Adhesion rounded up a tiring, but still very interesting day with a smile.
