Opening Ceremony of Spring AGORA 2008 in Ljubljana

The Spring AGORA 2008 in Ljubljana was opened by Veronika Zagar, the president of AEGEE Ljubljana, who came on stage and gave a nice speech about the European Identity of AEGEE.

Then the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Jankovic, spoke us about the city of Ljubljana, which he mentioned as the most beautiful city in the world (!!) and also talked about environmental issues and how the environment should be carefully sustained.

After this nice speech, the representative of European Commission talked about the importance of intercultural dialogue and the European Unity, and of course AEGEE’s contributions to it.

Whilst the contribution of the University of Ljubljana cannot be denied, the Pro-Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Dr. Ivan Svetlik, came up and delivered a nice speech about the University of Ljubljana itself, the activities of the university and how it supports such successful organizations. At the end he declared his sadness about the lack of intercultural communication and how AEGEE contributes to this subject.

The last speaker, Laure Onidi, president of AEGEE Europe, came up and shared her ideas and comments about AEGEE’s successes, present activities, but most of all future plans.

The ceremony ended with the great folk show of the “White Angels” who entertained us with their nice songs and dances, which were unique for most of the participants. The ceremony was closed after this lovely show, and the participants got the chance to taste the nice wines and the food at the reception. The outdoor reception with the theme of “AGORA Airlines” offered a good
service to their customers with pretty stewardesses.
